Welcome to the Webdev Bootcamp (Fall 2022)! Let's introduce ourselves 🄳

Hello, everyone! My name is Janine and I am a teacher who is looking to possibly switch fields. I’m fairly new to web development, so I’m glad that there are some other people taking this course who are in the same boat

Hello, I’m Rachel.

I currently have no background in the technological community as of yet. I was pointed in this direction from a loved one already in the field who has had the opportunity to grow and expand her skill set. I’m currently a paramedic looking to change career paths and try something new and challenging. I’m looking forward to this bootcamp and I’m glad to be here and be apart of it. I cannot wait to begin this journey into tech!

Haha, same here. Good luck, let’s do our best this time around!

I wanted to take both bootcamps too. Then I figured, since this is (I think) the third time they’re running the web dev one and the second time for the JS one, they’re probably gonna do it again next year… So I decided to take just the web dev bootcamp for now, and then try to take the JS one next time around, hoping there will be a next time! That’s also the order that FreeCodeCamp recommends doing their courses in.

Hey, happy almost birthday! (Mine is in a few days as well haha, so I’m more or less thinking of it as a little birthday adventure to start this bootcamp too.)

Thanks for sharing your digital garden! I love the concept of digital gardens, and I’m hoping to keep notes about this course in my own early-stage, sort-of-digital-garden too. There’s not much in it, but here it is if you’re curious.

Hey folks! My name’s Vance and my pronouns are they/them. I’m super excited to learn with you all!

I’ve been wanting to learn about modern web dev for several years now–I actually used to make simple websites with the old HTML4 as a teenage hobby, but I didn’t stick with it over time, so I’ve gotten really curious about HTML5 and how web technologies have changed over these last ~15 years. (Like, it blew my mind when I found out that you can makes games that run directly in the browser now, instead of relying on plugins like Flash!) And I’d love to get back to just making stuff online again! My biggest inspiration for wanting to make websites is the digital homesteading movement, the idea of being able to create your own completely unique personal space on the web instead of being limited by other people’s platforms.

I actually started doing the FCC curriculum already, over the summer, but I only worked on it for a few days before getting distracted and losing motivation. I’m really hoping that being able to follow along together with a group will make the difference in keeping me interested long enough to finish the course! And since I do already have a little bit more familiarity with HTML than some others might, I’m hoping I can do my best to help out and answer people’s questions when I’m able, too.

By the way, it’s super interesting seeing all the different backgrounds folks are coming from, thanks to everyone for sharing!

Hi! My name is Angie and I am excited to take part in this coding bootcamp :slightly_smiling_face:

I have been trying to learn on my own with YouTube videos but realized that I need something more structured…and the best part - it’s free! What an amazing resource to have available.

I look forward to becoming a better Web Developer after 6 weeks. Cheers.
